Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This investigational combination treatment consists of a high-potency 70% glycolic acid chemical peel supplemented with vitamin C (ascorbic acid). Developed by the National University Hospital in Singapore, it is specifically designed for the treatment of photoaging. Glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid, acts as a keratolytic agent that promotes desquamation of the stratum corneum, while vitamin C serves as an antioxidant and a critical cofactor for collagen biosynthesis. The treatment is applied topically as a single-application chemical peel to improve clinical features of photoaged skin, including wrinkles, texture, and discoloration. It has been evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial (NCT02126644) to assess its efficacy and safety profile in patients with photoaging.
