Drug intelligence / Profile preview
7C11 is an investigational humanized monoclonal antibody designed to mimic the protective effects of the APOE3 Christchurch (APOE3Ch) genetic variant for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Developed by Epoch Biotech and licensed from Massachusetts General Brigham, 7C11 preferentially binds to apolipoprotein E (ApoE), specifically targeting the heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG) binding domain of ApoE4 and ApoE3. By blocking the pathological interaction between ApoE and HSPGs (glycosaminoglycans), the antibody inhibits ApoE-mediated tau hyperphosphorylation, reduces tau pathology and aggregation, attenuates neuroinflammation, and protects cerebrovascular blood-brain barrier integrity. 7C11 is currently in preclinical development for both familial and sporadic forms of Alzheimer's disease.
