8-epi-helenalin is a sesquiterpene lactone natural product isolated from the dried flowers of *Inula japonica*. It exhibits potent multitargeted anticancer activity, particularly against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The compound's mechanism of action involves the induction of apoptosis through the modulation of the STAT3 signaling pathway, inhibition of tumor cell migration via suppression of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) signaling, and the triggering of ferroptosis by increasing lipid reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reducing glutathione (GSH) levels. Additionally, it has been shown to suppress tumor angiogenesis. Preclinical studies in zebrafish xenograft models have demonstrated its efficacy in suppressing tumor growth and metastasis, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic candidate for HCC treatment.
