8-nitrononadec-7-enoic acid is a synthetic nitro-fatty acid, specifically a nitroalkene derivative of the long-chain monounsaturated fatty acid nonadec-7-enoic acid. It has been described in the academic literature (under the code CP-8) as an electrophilic lipid that can undergo Michael addition with protein cysteine residues, analogous to other nitroalkenes such as nitro-oleic acid, and is being explored as a chemical probe and potential anticancer agent in preclinical models to modulate DNA damage response and sensitize tumor cells to PARP inhibitors by covalent modification of DNA repair proteins.[5]
