86Y-IL-13.E13K.D2.Cys is a radiolabeled research-stage imaging agent consisting of a mutant form of Interleukin-13 (IL-13) conjugated to the positron-emitting radioisotope Yttrium-86 (86Y). The ligand, IL-13.E13K.D2.Cys, is engineered to selectively bind to the Interleukin-13 receptor alpha 2 (IL-13Rα2) with high affinity while avoiding the ubiquitously expressed IL-13Rα1/IL-4Rα heterodimer. IL-13Rα2 is overexpressed in several solid tumors, including glioblastoma, melanoma, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, but is largely absent in normal tissues, making it an attractive target for tumor-specific imaging and therapy. Developed through a collaboration involving MD Anderson Cancer Center and RadioMedix, this radiotracer is used in PET/CT imaging to non-invasively visualize IL-13Rα2 expression in vivo, supporting the development of theranostic strategies.
