Drug intelligence / Profile preview
89Zr-βG-Fab is a zirconium-89 labeled anti-β-glucan antibody fragment (Fab) developed by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a pan-fungal positron emission tomography (PET) imaging tracer. The tracer consists of a Fab fragment derived from a high-affinity rabbit anti-β-glucan IgG antibody (clone B3149M) conjugated to the chelator desferrioxamine (DFO) and radiolabeled with zirconium-89 (89Zr). It specifically targets β-glucans, which are conserved polysaccharide components of the fungal cell wall absent in mammalian cells and most bacteria. 89Zr-βG-Fab is designed for the non-invasive detection and localization of invasive fungal infections, including those caused by Aspergillus, Candida, and Mucorales species, offering rapid clearance and high specificity compared to full-length antibodies.
