**89Zr-DFO-girentuximab** is a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody-based imaging agent used for positron emission tomography (PET) of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). It consists of the chimeric monoclonal antibody girentuximab, which specifically targets carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX), a protein highly expressed on ccRCC cells. The antibody is conjugated to the chelator desferrioxamine (DFO), which binds the radioisotope zirconium‑89 (^89Zr). After intravenous administration, the agent binds to CAIX-expressing tumor cells, allowing PET/CT imaging to differentiate ccRCC from other renal lesions. This targeted approach enables non-invasive detection and characterization of kidney tumors. Developed as TLX250-CDx and branded as Zircaix, it is under regulatory review for kidney cancer imaging and available through expanded access programs in several countries[3][4][5][7].
