89Zr-DFO-huJ591 is a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent used for immuno-positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in patients with metastatic prostate cancer. It consists of the humanized monoclonal antibody huJ591 that targets the extracellular domain of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), conjugated with desferrioxamine (DFO) as a chelator and labeled with the radioisotope zirconium-89 (89Zr). Upon binding to PSMA, the antibody-PSMA complex becomes rapidly internalized. This radiopharmaceutical allows for detection of metastatic lesions in both bone and soft tissue, with optimal imaging time at approximately 7 days post-injection.
