Drug intelligence / Profile preview
89Zr-DFO-simtuzumab is a zirconium-89 labeled humanized monoclonal antibody conjugate developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent (immunoPET tracer) targeting Lysyl Oxidase-Like 2 (LOXL2). It is prepared by conjugating the anti-LOXL2 monoclonal antibody simtuzumab with the bifunctional chelator desferrioxamine (DFO) and radiolabeling it with zirconium-89. The agent is designed to noninvasively image LOXL2 expression levels in the extracellular matrix (ECM) of solid tumors, such as pancreatic and liver cancers, to assess tumor progression and metastasis. Preclinical studies conducted at the University of Chicago have evaluated its biodistribution, tumor uptake, and imaging potential in xenograft models.
