Drug intelligence / Profile preview
89Zr-DOTATOC is a zirconium-89-labeled DOTA-octreotide conjugate developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging radiopharmaceutical. It targets the somatostatin receptor (SSTR), which is highly expressed in neuroendocrine tumors. By utilizing zirconium-89, a PET radionuclide with a relatively long half-life of approximately 78 hours, the tracer allows for flexible delivery and delayed imaging of SSTR-positive tumors. Preclinical studies, including those conducted at Kyoto University, have optimized its synthesis using an acetate buffer at pH 5.5 to achieve high radiochemical yields without requiring post-labeling purification, demonstrating specific tumor targeting in vitro and in vivo.
