89Zr-ipilimumab is a radiolabeled diagnostic imaging agent developed by Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc. It consists of the monoclonal antibody ipilimumab, which targets cytotoxic T-lymphocyte antigen-4 (CTLA-4), labeled with the positron-emitting radionuclide zirconium-89. This biologic imaging agent is utilized in immuno-PET/CT scans to evaluate the uptake and biodistribution of ipilimumab in both tumor lesions and normal tissues in patients with metastatic melanoma. By visualizing the in vivo localization of the antibody, researchers aim to identify biomarkers that correlate with clinical activity and treatment response, as well as to investigate whether high drug levels in specific tissues are associated with immune-related adverse events (irAEs).
