Overview

9-N-Phenylmethylamino-Tacrine is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the acridine class of compounds. It is structurally related to tacrine and functions as a cholinesterase inhibitor. This compound has been investigated for its potential in treating neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase and thereby increasing acetylcholine levels in the brain[1][2][4]. Its mechanism of action mirrors that of tacrine but with structural modifications intended to improve efficacy or reduce toxicity. As of now it remains an experimental compound without clinical approval.
