Drug intelligence / Profile preview
99mTc-anti-DPP6 nanobody is an experimental, preclinical radiolabeled single-domain camelid antibody (nanobody) fragment designed for non-invasive imaging of pancreatic beta-cell mass. Developed by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), the imaging agent consists of the high-affinity anti-DPP6 nanobody clone 4hD29 labeled with the radioactive isotope technetium-99m (99mTc) for single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging. It specifically targets dipeptidyl peptidase 6 (DPP6), a cell-surface biomarker highly expressed in human pancreatic islets (specifically beta and alpha cells) and endocrine cells, as well as certain neuroblastomas. The tracer is intended as a diagnostic tool to non-invasively quantify beta-cell mass, monitor the progression of type 1 diabetes, and track the viability of transplanted pancreatic islet grafts.
