99mTc-CN7DG is a novel radiopharmaceutical agent designed for tumor imaging using single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). It consists of a technetium-99m (^99mTc) radioisotope complexed with CN7DG, a glucose derivative containing an isonitrile group as the coordinating moiety. The compound is synthesized by reacting CN7DG with stannous chloride and sodium pertechnetate (^99mTcO_4^-). 99mTc-CN7DG demonstrates high stability and is transported into cells via glucose transporters, leading to preferential accumulation in tumor tissues due to their elevated glucose uptake. Preclinical studies in mice bearing A549 tumors showed that 99mTc-CN7DG achieves higher tumor uptake and superior tumor-to-blood and tumor-to-muscle ratios compared to [^18F]FDG and 99mTc-CN5DG. SPECT/CT imaging confirmed clear visualization of tumors, indicating its promise as a cancer imaging agent. The development also suggests potential for theranostic applications when paired with rhenium-188 (188Re) for therapy[1][2][3].
