Drug intelligence / Profile preview
99mTc-DTPA-Isoquinoline (also known as 99mTc-THQ-DTPA) is a technetium-99m labeled radiopharmaceutical developed as a single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging agent. It consists of an isoquinoline-based ligand conjugated to diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) and radiolabeled with technetium-99m. The agent specifically targets the sigma-2 receptor, which is highly overexpressed in rapidly proliferating cancer cells, particularly in breast tumors. Developed by researchers at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in India, in collaboration with other institutions, this diagnostic tracer is being evaluated in preclinical models for the early detection and imaging of breast cancer, including triple-negative breast cancer.
