99mTc-EC-G (technetium-99m-labeled ethylenedicysteine-glucosamine) is a SPECT radiopharmaceutical imaging agent developed by Cell>Point. It consists of ethylenedicysteine (EC) conjugated to glucosamine (G) molecules and labeled with the technetium-99m radioisotope. The agent is designed to target glucose metabolism by interacting with glucose transporters (GLUT) and hexokinase enzymes, which are typically overexpressed in malignant cells and ischemic tissues. 99mTc-EC-G is being developed as a more accessible and cost-effective alternative to 18F-FDG PET imaging for applications in oncology, specifically for the detection and staging of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and in cardiology for diagnosing myocardial ischemia in patients with coronary artery disease. It has also been investigated for the evaluation of rheumatic joint diseases.
