Drug intelligence / Profile preview
99mTc-ERX-PAMA is a technetium-99m labeled enrofloxacin derivative developed as a potential tumor-specific or infection-specific imaging agent [1]. It consists of the fluoroquinolone antibiotic enrofloxacin (ERX) functionalized at the C-3 carboxylate position with a picolylaminomonoacetic acid (PAMA) chelator, which is coordinated to a technetium-99m tricarbonyl core ([99mTc][Tc(CO)3]+) [1]. In preclinical evaluations, 99mTc-ERX-PAMA demonstrated a favorable pharmacokinetic profile and an increasing tumor-to-blood ratio in CT26 colon adenocarcinoma-bearing mouse models, suggesting its potential utility as a SPECT tumor-imaging agent [1].
