99mTc maraciclatide is a radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agent consisting of the peptide maraciclatide labeled with technetium-99m. It is designed for SPECT-CT imaging and binds with high affinity to the αvβ3 integrin (integrin alpha-V/beta-3), a cell adhesion protein highly expressed in angiogenic blood vessels. By targeting αvβ3 integrin, 99mTc maraciclatide enables visualization of angiogenesis—a process critical to the establishment and growth of endometriotic lesions as well as other diseases involving neovascularization. The agent is being developed primarily for non-invasive diagnosis of superficial peritoneal endometriosis but has also been studied in conditions such as breast cancer, bone metastases, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes mellitus, heart failure with normal ejection fraction (HFpEF), and atherosclerotic plaques. Clinical studies have shown it to be safe and well tolerated[1][4][5][10].
