The formulation combines two agents: - **99mTc-nanocolloid**: A radiopharmaceutical consisting of technetium-99m labeled to a human serum albumin nanocolloid. It emits gamma radiation, allowing preoperative imaging (e.g., SPECT/CT) and intraoperative detection using a gamma probe. - **Patent Blue V**: A synthetic triphenylmethane dye that stains lymphatic vessels and nodes blue, providing visual guidance during surgery. The combination leverages both radioactive (gamma probe) and colorimetric (visual blue staining) modalities to improve SLN detection rates compared to either agent alone. This dual-modality approach is considered standard-of-care in many settings due to its high sensitivity for SLN identification[2][3][5]. However, Patent Blue V carries risks of allergic reactions including rare anaphylaxis[2][5].
