99mTc-PHC-102 is a technetium-99m (^99mTc)-labeled acetazolamide derivative used as a radiopharmaceutical for SPECT/CT imaging[1][3][4]. It targets carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX), a cell surface enzyme highly expressed in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and other cancers, but low in normal tissues[1][3]. The agent consists of an acetazolamide-based small molecule connected to a peptide chelator for technetium-99m via a triazole-aspartic acid linker[1]. Upon intravenous administration, it binds specifically to CAIX-positive tumor sites, permitting sensitive detection of both primary and metastatic lesions using nuclear imaging. Its mechanism of action is high-affinity, selective binding and labeling of CAIX-expressing cells, thereby enabling imaging and potentially serving as a companion diagnostic for CAIX-targeted therapeutics[1][3][4].
