99mTc-tricine-HYNIC-SSS-GE11 is a radiolabeled peptide-based diagnostic imaging agent being investigated for the detection of ovarian cancer and other tumors that overexpress the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). The compound consists of the GE11 peptide, a dodecapeptide (YHWYGYTPQNVI) that binds specifically to EGFR, conjugated to a 6-hydrazinonicotinic acid (HYNIC) chelator via a tri-serine (SSS) linker. It is radiolabeled with technetium-99m (99mTc) using tricine as a coligand to form a stable complex suitable for single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) imaging. Preclinical evaluations have demonstrated high radiochemical purity, stability in human serum, and high affinity for EGFR-expressing cells, suggesting its potential as a non-invasive molecular probe for early cancer diagnosis.
