9cUAB130 is a novel synthetic retinoid from a newer class of retinoids related to 9cUAB30 and 9cUAB124. It has demonstrated cytotoxic effects on cancer cells, particularly ovarian cancer cells, and is investigated for its ability to inhibit cancer cell growth, reduce cancer stem cell (CSC) populations, and decrease tumorigenicity when combined with platinum-based chemotherapy (e.g., carboplatin). 9cUAB130 acts as a retinoid X receptor (RXR) agonist, modulating cell growth, differentiation, and stemness features. Preclinical research indicates a potential for improved efficacy and side-effect profiles over previous retinoids, particularly in the context of chemoresistance in solid tumors.[1]
