**9cUAB30** is a synthetic analogue of 9-cis retinoic acid, classified as a rexinoid. It acts as a selective agonist for the retinoid X receptor (RXR). By binding to and activating RXR homodimers and/or RAR/RXR heterodimers, it promotes dissociation of corepressor proteins and recruitment of coactivator proteins, leading to transcriptional activation of downstream target genes. This gene regulation can result in inhibition of cell proliferation, induction of differentiation, and apoptosis in both normal and tumor cells. The drug has demonstrated potential antineoplastic and chemopreventive activities.
