Drug intelligence / Profile preview
9EG7 is a rat monoclonal antibody that specifically recognizes an activation-dependent epitope on the integrin beta-1 subunit (CD29). It binds to the I-EGF2 domain of the active conformation of integrin beta-1, stabilizing its extended-open, high-affinity state. 9EG7 is widely utilized as a research reagent and preclinical tool to detect, monitor, and induce integrin beta-1 activation. In preclinical studies, such as those conducted by Janssen Research and Development and Morphic Therapeutic, 9EG7 has been used as a proof-of-concept agent to demonstrate that activating integrin beta-1 (specifically in the context of the alpha-3/beta-1 heterodimer) can preserve podocyte adhesion, maintain glomerular filtration barrier integrity, and ameliorate albuminuria in animal models of diabetic kidney disease (DKD).
