Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A(H5N2) live attenuated influenza vaccine is a nasal spray vaccine containing an attenuated (weakened) form of the A(H5N2) avian influenza virus. It is designed to induce immunity against H5N2 subtype avian influenza in humans. The vaccine uses egg-based technology for production and is administered intranasally as a single 0.5 mL dose. Its mechanism involves stimulating both mucosal and systemic immune responses, including virus-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes and antibodies, providing protection against H5N2 infection and potentially broader cross-protection against other related subtypes[8][4]. Developed primarily as part of pandemic preparedness efforts, it has undergone Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trials demonstrating safety and immunogenicity in humans[8].
