Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A and C meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine is an inactivated bacterial vaccine composed of purified capsular polysaccharides from Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A and C. It is designed to induce active immunity against invasive disease caused by these two serogroups. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce specific antibodies against the capsular antigens of N. meningitidis A and C, thereby providing protection if exposed to these bacteria. This type of vaccine does not contain protein conjugates; it consists solely of the purified polysaccharides from each serogroup.
