Overview
A-dopamine (anaerobic dopamine) is an investigational drug-device combination therapy developed by InBrain Pharma and University Hospital, Lille, for the treatment of advanced Parkinson's disease. The therapy consists of dopamine prepared and stored under anaerobic conditions to prevent its rapid oxidation. It is administered via continuous intracerebroventricular (ICV) infusion directly into the third ventricle using an implanted abdominal pump and a subcutaneous catheter. By bypassing the blood-brain barrier and delivering the neurotransmitter directly to the dopamine-depleted striatum, A-dopamine aims to provide continuous dopaminergic stimulation, thereby reducing the motor fluctuations and dyskinesias commonly associated with long-term oral levodopa therapy.
