Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A-R Extreme is a product marketed as a dietary supplement for the relief of joint pain and arthritis symptoms. Despite being promoted as a natural formulation, laboratory testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identified the presence of undeclared diclofenac, a prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Diclofenac functions by inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins that mediate inflammation and pain. The product was primarily distributed by The Natural Way and has been the subject of public health warnings due to the risks associated with undeclared pharmaceuticals, such as gastrointestinal ulceration and cardiovascular complications.
