Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A. Vogel Sore Throat lozenges are a traditional herbal medicinal product containing extracts of *Echinacea purpurea* (Purple Coneflower) and *Salvia officinalis* (Sage). Developed by A. Vogel (Bioforce AG), these lozenges are indicated for the symptomatic relief of acute sore throats (pharyngitis). The *Echinacea* component is standardized for alkylamides, which act as partial agonists at the cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), contributing to immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects. The *Salvia officinalis* (Sage) extract provides antiseptic and astringent properties, helping to soothe the inflamed mucous membranes of the throat. The product is widely available as an over-the-counter remedy and has been evaluated in clinical trials for safety and efficacy in treating acute sore throat symptoms.
