Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A006 DPI is an investigational dry powder inhaler (DPI) formulation of albuterol (salbutamol) being developed by Amphastar Pharmaceuticals. Albuterol is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist (SABA) that acts as a bronchodilator by stimulating beta-2 adrenergic receptors in the lungs, leading to the relaxation of bronchial smooth muscle and improved airflow. This formulation is primarily intended for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A006 DPI has been evaluated in multiple Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its pharmacokinetics, safety, and efficacy, often using Proventil HFA (albuterol metered-dose inhaler) as an active comparator.
