Overview

The A1-MSC vaccine, also known as the ARM (A1-Reprogrammed Mesenchymal Stromal Cells) vaccine, is an allogeneic, "off-the-shelf" cancer vaccine developed by Defence Therapeutics. It utilizes the company's proprietary A1 molecule, a variant of the Accum technology platform, to reprogram mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into professional antigen-presenting cells. These modified cells are engineered to cross-present tumor antigens, thereby priming and activating cytotoxic T lymphocytes to target solid tumors. Preclinical data has demonstrated high cure rates in animal models of melanoma and lymphoma, particularly when combined with anti-PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors. As of 2023, the vaccine was transitioning into clinical manufacturing for Phase I trials.
