Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A17 is a probiotic and psychobiotic strain of *Lactococcus lactis* developed by Bened Biomedical. Isolated from fermented cabbage in Taiwan, it is primarily utilized for allergy management and immune system modulation. The strain works by reducing serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels and balancing immune responses through the modulation of B-cells, T-cells, and the expression of pattern recognition receptors, specifically NOD-1, NOD-2, and TLR-4. A17 is effective in both its live and heat-killed (paraprobiotic) forms and is part of a portfolio of microbiome-based therapies targeting the gut-brain-immune axis.
