Overview

A2C9-1 is a monoclonal antibody targeting fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1). It was studied as an **anti-FGFR1 monoclonal antibody** for its potential antitumor effects, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The antibody shows only weak suppression of HCC cell growth on its own but demonstrates significantly increased antitumor activity in vitro and in vivo when combined with interferon alpha (IFN-α), especially when further combined with peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), suggesting possible synergy with immunomodulation. The antitumor mechanism is believed to involve antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity, facilitated by IFN-α–induced FGFR1 surface expression on tumor cells. The antibody does not appear to induce receptor internalization. No cytotoxicity against normal hepatocytes was observed in mouse studies[1][5].
