Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A3 is a specific medical cannabis formulation developed by Breath of Life International Pharma Ltd (BOL Pharma). It consists of a 1:1 ratio of cannabidiol (CBD) and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), with each drop containing 3.1 mg of CBD and 3.1 mg of THC diluted in an olive oil vehicle. The drug is designed for sublingual administration. A3 has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess the safety and pharmacokinetics of its sublingual delivery compared to other ratios and formulations. It is being developed for the treatment of neurodevelopmental and neurological conditions, specifically autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and neuropathic pain. The therapeutic effect is derived from the modulation of the endocannabinoid system, where THC acts as a partial agonist at CB1 and CB2 receptors, while CBD provides complementary effects through various pathways including FAAH inhibition and serotonin receptor modulation.
