A717 is a monoclonal antibody developed by Glycadia for the treatment of complications associated with diabetes, particularly diabetic nephropathy, diabetic neuropathy, and diabetic retinopathy. Its mechanism involves neutralizing the effects of excess glycated albumin—a pathogenic factor in diabetes-related tissue damage. Preclinical studies in diabetic mouse models have shown that A717 can ameliorate mesangial expansion, reduce renal overexpression of extracellular matrix proteins (such as collagen IV and fibronectin), decrease proteinuria, and prevent declines in renal function. These findings suggest potential for slowing or preventing progression of kidney disease and other microvascular complications in diabetes[1].
