Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A8G6 is a neutralizing antibody combination nasal spray developed for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. It consists of two potent monoclonal antibodies, A8 and G6, which were identified and characterized by researchers at Chongqing Medical University. These antibodies target the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, effectively blocking the virus's entry into host cells by preventing its interaction with the ACE2 receptor. The nasal spray formulation is designed to provide localized protection in the upper respiratory tract, serving both as a post-exposure prophylactic for healthy individuals and a treatment for patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. Clinical evaluation in China has focused on its safety, tolerability, and virologic efficacy.
