AA102

AA102 is an experimental oral anti-cancer agent that was developed as an apoptosis inducer for the treatment of advanced breast cancer. Derived from botanical sources through traditional Chinese medicine screening platforms, the drug was designed to selectively trigger programmed cell death in malignant cells while sparing healthy tissue. Preclinical studies indicated that AA102 could attenuate tumor growth and induce apoptosis in various hormone-independent cancer models. Although the developer, BioNovo, planned to initiate Phase 1/2 clinical trials in 2007, the development of the compound was ultimately halted following the company's financial difficulties and subsequent liquidation in 2012.
