AAC2-insulin is an experimental **AAC2-human insulin complex** in which human insulin is adsorbed onto positively charged self-assembling AAC2 dipeptide nanofibers. AAC2 provides insulin-independent metabolic activity through leptin receptor-associated signaling, while the insulin component activates insulin receptor signaling; the nanofiber complex is intended to improve insulin exposure and glucose regulation while reducing hypoglycemia. In mouse models of type 1 diabetes and early Alzheimer’s disease-related pathology, AAC2-hINS improved circulating and brain insulin exposure, glycemic and cognitive outcomes, and survival relative to free insulin in reported experiments.
