Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AAV-BI30-CBS is an investigational gene therapy designed to treat atherosclerosis by reversing endothelial cell senescence. It utilizes the engineered adeno-associated virus serotype 9 (AAV9) variant capsid, AAV-BI30, which has high tropism for endothelial cells, to deliver the gene encoding cystathionine β-synthase (CBS). In preclinical models of atherosclerosis, systemic administration of AAV-BI30-CBS has been shown to alleviate atherosclerotic plaque formation, reduce senescent cell burden in lesions, promote endothelial cell proliferation and autophagy, and inhibit the secretion of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP).
