Overview

AAV-FBXO28 is an experimental gene therapy construct that utilizes an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector to deliver and overexpress the F-box only protein 28 (FBXO28) gene. FBXO28 is a member of the F-box protein family, which functions as a substrate-recognition component of the SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. Preclinical research, particularly in murine models of high-fat diet-induced hyperlipidemia, has demonstrated that increasing FBXO28 expression can alleviate abnormal lipid metabolism and suppress inflammatory responses. The therapy aims to modulate metabolic pathways and reduce systemic inflammation, potentially offering a novel approach for treating hyperlipidemia and associated metabolic disorders.
