Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AAV-PRDX3 is an adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy vector designed to overexpress peroxiredoxin 3 (PRDX3), a major mitochondrial peroxide scavenger and antioxidant enzyme. In preclinical models of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and liver ischemia-reperfusion injury (LIRI), hepatic-targeted overexpression of PRDX3 via AAV-PRDX3 has been shown to alleviate oxidative stress, reduce lipid peroxidation, and inhibit hepatocyte ferroptosis. This protective effect is associated with the downregulation of p53, ACSL4, and TFR1, and the upregulation of NRF2/HO-1 and SLC7A11/GPX4 antioxidant pathways.
