Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**AAV2.7m8 + ranibizumab** is an investigational ocular gene therapy developed by Adverum Biotechnologies to provide sustained intraocular expression of **ranibizumab**, an anti-VEGF biologic, after **intravitreal** delivery using the engineered **AAV2.7m8** capsid. The construct is designed for retinal transduction from the vitreous and aims to reduce treatment burden in **neovascular age-related macular degeneration** and **choroidal neovascularization** by enabling long-term local production of ranibizumab within the eye rather than repeated bolus injections of recombinant protein. Its intended therapeutic mechanism is neutralization of **vascular endothelial growth factor A**, thereby suppressing pathologic angiogenesis and vascular leakage in the retina and choroid.
