AAV6-M2 is an experimental in vivo CAR-T cell therapy candidate developed by Westlake Genetech. The therapy utilizes an adeno-associated virus serotype 6 (AAV6) vector engineered to specifically target CD62L (L-selectin) on the surface of human T cells. Upon binding and entry, the vector delivers a genetic payload encoding a CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR). This process generates CAR-T cells directly within the patient's body, which then recognize and eliminate CD19-positive B cells or tumor cells. This approach aims to circumvent the complexities, high costs, and long turnaround times associated with traditional ex vivo CAR-T manufacturing. AAV6-M2 is being investigated for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), other autoimmune diseases, and B-cell malignancies.
