AAV6-shIgfbp7

AAV6-shIgfbp7 (also known as AAVshIgfbp7) is an adeno-associated virus serotype 6 (AAV6) gene therapy vector designed to deliver a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (Igfbp7) under the control of the periostin (Postn) promoter [1]. Developed by researchers at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital and Nanjing University, the therapy specifically targets mature myofibroblasts to knock down Igfbp7 expression [1]. In preclinical models of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), AAV6-shIgfbp7 has demonstrated therapeutic potential by alleviating liver fibrosis and improving cardiac dysfunction, as well as enhancing glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity [1].
