AAV9-NC-shRNA is a research-grade viral vector used as a negative control in gene silencing experiments. It consists of an adeno-associated virus serotype 9 (AAV9) capsid packaging a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) sequence that does not target any known gene (a non-coding or "scramble" sequence). This construct allows researchers to control for the potential biological effects of the AAV9 vector itself and the cellular machinery involved in shRNA processing, rather than the specific knockdown of a target gene.
