AAVmod2 is an engineered adeno-associated virus capsid developed by Affinia Therapeutics as a next-generation **gene therapy** delivery vector for systemic treatment of neuromuscular diseases. It was designed using Affinia's ART platform to combine two functional properties in a single capsid: **liver detargeting** to reduce off-target hepatic transduction and potential liver toxicity, and **enhanced skeletal muscle tropism** to improve transgene delivery and expression in muscle after systemic administration. Preclinical reports describe AAVmod2 as outperforming conventional AAV9-derived approaches in mice for muscle expression while reducing liver exposure, positioning it as a vector technology rather than a traditional small-molecule or biologic therapeutic product.
