Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AB-1 is a peptide-based therapeutic candidate developed by Porosome Therapeutics for the treatment of melanoma. It belongs to a novel class of 'Porosome Peptide Therapies' that target the porosome, a cup-shaped lipoprotein structure at the cell plasma membrane that serves as the universal secretory portal in all cells. In cancer, secretory pathways are often hijacked to facilitate the release of growth factors and proteases that promote tumor progression and metastasis. AB-1 is designed to modulate these secretory processes by interacting with the porosome complex, thereby inhibiting the pathological secretion associated with melanoma cell survival and progression. The drug is currently in mid-to-late-stage development.
