AB-PINACA

AB-PINACA is a synthetic cannabinoid of the aminoalkylindazole class, originally developed by Pfizer in 2009 as a potential analgesic candidate. It acts as a potent full agonist at both the Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and Cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), with high affinity (Ki values of 2.87 nM and 0.88 nM, respectively). Although intended for the treatment of pain, the compound never progressed to clinical development. Instead, it emerged on the illicit market in 2012 as a component of synthetic cannabis products. Due to its high potency and association with severe adverse health outcomes, including cardiovascular events, seizures, and fatalities, it is strictly regulated and classified as a Schedule I controlled substance in the United States and other jurisdictions.
