Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**AB Prep** is an investigational 16-tablet oral bowel-cleansing regimen developed by Long Neck Medical Enterprises for colonoscopy preparation and evaluated in severe constipation. The regimen combines phosphate salts supplied as K-Phos Neutral, the stimulant laxative bisacodyl, and metoclopramide. Phosphate salts act as osmotic cathartics that retain water in the intestinal lumen; bisacodyl stimulates bowel evacuation; and metoclopramide provides prokinetic and antiemetic activity through dopamine receptor antagonism. A registered Phase III study evaluated the regimen for colon cleansing before colonoscopy. ([clinicaltrials.gov](https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT00817934))
