Overview
AB-Protears is a microbial therapy developed by AB-BIOTICS, consisting of a lysate from the probiotic strain *Lactobacillus sakei* proBio 65. It is designed to modulate the ocular surface microbiome to treat various inflammatory and degenerative eye conditions. The therapy is primarily being developed for dry eye disease, ocular irritation, and eye-surface allergies and inflammation, with additional research into its potential for managing age-related macular degeneration (AMD). By influencing the local microbial environment, AB-Protears aims to restore ocular surface homeostasis and mitigate inflammatory responses associated with dysbiosis.
